About
Purpose of Program
Eagle Academy is a welcoming and supportive alternative high school within the Douglas County School District (DCSD). Our mission is to provide students who are at risk of not graduating with a new path to earning their high school diploma. As a certified Alternative Education Campus (AEC), we specialize in serving students who face challenges in a traditional daytime program. We understand that every student's journey is unique, and our caring staff is dedicated to offering personalized instruction and guidance to help each student succeed.
School Schedule and Enrollment
Eagle operates on a block schedule with four 9-week quarters. Classes are held Monday from 2:30 PM to 8:35 PM and Tuesday through Thursday from 1:00 PM to 8:35 PM.
- Eligibility: Students must be between the ages of 16 and 20 and have attended high school for at least one year. Students with an IEP or 504 plan are also welcome to apply.
- Capacity: We have a total of 125 spots available for students. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis, and students can be placed on a waiting list once their application is submitted.
- Cost & Transportation: Eagle is a fee-free program, but students must settle any outstanding fees with their previous school before enrolling. We do not provide transportation, but students can park for free.
Academics and Student Support
The program is designed to rekindle a student's desire to learn through a family-like atmosphere and small class sizes.
- Point System: To stay active in the program, students must earn a minimum of 9 points per class each quarter. Points are earned in three areas: Attendance (5 points), Academics (5 points), and Behavior (5 points).
- Elective Credits: Students are strongly encouraged to work or participate in a vocational program. They can earn elective credits through the ACE Program by working a minimum number of hours each quarter. We also offer a variety of elective courses, including music, art, theater, and culinary arts.
- CTE & CE Classes: Many students can attend programs at other DCSD high schools or Legacy. Eagle also offers concurrent enrollment classes in Math, English, and Spanish.
- Support Services: Eagle has a dedicated Mental Health Team with three full-time counselors and one social worker, as well as a special education team to provide support services.
