Students apply online here. A counselor’s recommendation must also be completed by the counselor (online). If the student has in IEP, we need to receive a copy of the latest. All these items must be submitted and reviewed before a student is invited to an orientation meeting.

An applicant must be sixteen years of age, have attempted one year of high school and must be employed, volunteering regularly or involved in vocational training program. A student must graduate by the end of the semester in which they turn 21.

Students come to Eagle Academy to find a different way to reach educational success. The stories they arrive with are varied, but the one thing they have in common is a desire to attain a high school diploma.

Eagle is not affiliated with the GED. Our students receive a Douglas County School District diploma upon successful completion of coursework.

Enrollment at Eagle Academy is capped at 150 students.

Eagle Academy is a fee-free school! Yearbooks are for sale.

Our counselor reviews the transcript of each and every student and then places students in the classes that they need to satisfy the district’s graduation requirements.

Once a student has attained the required 24 credits (graduation requirements) and completed and documented their 20 hours of community service, they will be eligible to graduate. Graduation itself is held twice a per year, January and June.

We provide a wide array of core classes (English, Math, Science and Social Studies) for students to take during school hours. Here is our Course Description Guide . A full schedule consists of seven classes.

We work on the block system, so a class is either on Monday and Wednesday, or Tuesday and Thursday. Below is a normal day schedule:

Period 1        1:00 - 2:25  pm  (T, W, Th)                        

Period 2        2:30 - 4:18 pm  

Period 3        4:21 - 6:09 pm  

Break      6:09 - 6:47 pm  

Period 4       6:47 - 8:35 pm 

We do not provide a meal service at Eagle so students are encouraged to bring a lunch to eat during break. We will provide students with a space to eat and also have some snack items available for them to purchase. Students can leave campus during this time, however they will be expected to return safely and on time for their next class. Each Wednesday is "Pancakes with the Principal" and Dr. Manzanares and Mr. Broeker prepare pancakes for students and staff alike.

• We are on a quarter system and grades are sent home after the third and sixth week of each quarter and the final grade after the ninth week.

• Eagle Academy will hold one parent/teacher conference night each quarter from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.

Not only does a student earn a grade in each class at Eagle, they also earn a Student Success Score (SSS) in each class every quarter. This score is a numerical gauge that reflects a combination of academic performance, attendance and behavior.

• If the student fails the SSS on a quarter grade, the student will be put on Academic Leave for the following quarter, during which the student is required to attend Star Lab on Monday and Wednesday nights from 4:30 to 6:00 pm.

Students are required by Colorado state law to attend school regularly and frequent absences impede learning and jeopardize earning a high school diploma. Poor attendance at prior school settings if often the reason Eagle students are at risk for not graduating, therefore attendance is monitored closely at Eagle Academy and is part of a our Student Success Score. We know that attendance is impacted by a variety of life events and we work to create a positive and supportive environment at Eagle that encourages attendance. Please communicate with our staff about issues that may help us better serve and understand your student.

• Parents/guardians should call the school’s main number, 303.387.0870, on the day the student is sick or otherwise unable to attend school.

• Parents will receive an automated email if their student was absent that day if they did not call their student in..

• If a parent forgets to call the office about their student’s absence, that parent can still call the next day with the reason for the absence.

Students are required to work and we encourage them to do so and take advantage of the great opportunity available to Eagle students to earn additional elective credit toward graduation. A student must log a minimum number of 9 hours per week to pass their ACE Work Study class. Please contact our Counselor or ACE coordinator for more information about our work requirements.

Our graduates go onto vocational schools, two-year and four-year colleges, the work world and the military.

We have representatives from various post high school opportunities visit our school to explain the options available to our graduates. Students have the opportunity to take field trips to area colleges and to participate in presentations by the military, vocational schools and two and four years colleges. We also offer a Senior Seminar course that prepares students for life after high school.
