Learning Specialists

The learning specialist plays a crucial role in supporting student success, both for general education and special education students. They work to enhance student learning by providing support, collaborating with teachers, and implementing strategies to address diverse learning needs.
Key Responsibilities and Roles:
Supporting Diverse Learners:
As the learning specialist, I work with students who have a wide range of learning needs, including those with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), supporting specific learning needs, such as literacy, math, or executive functioning skills.
Implementing strategies:
I support student growth, often focusing on specific skills or subject areas by implementing research-based instructional strategies.
Collaborating with teachers:
I collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and others to ensure students receive the support they need.
Assessing and monitoring student progress:
I assess student learning, analyze data, and monitor progress to inform instruction and interventions.
Case Management:
I serve as a case manager for students with IEPs, coordinating services and communication between various stakeholders.
